Quinoa is a grain crop that is grown for its edible seeds. It's pronounced KEEN-wah. It technically isn't a cereal grain, but a pseudo-cereal. In other words, it is basically a seed, which is prepared and eaten similarly to a grain.
White quinoa is nutty and mild in flavor, while fluffy and tender with a slight crunch in texture. Quinoa can easily replace other starches, and makes for a delicious and colorful side dish, salad, and even dessert!
Generally, quinoa cooks in approximately 18 minutes, and
for every 1 cup of quinoa, use 2 cups of liquid.
